Dr Thomas Perkins, in partnership with SmartClinics, has established an independent and private Veterans Health Centre –  specialising in providing ongoing rehabilitation and health care for those who have just left the Australian Defence Force.

We specialise in:

  • Military and DVA administration
  • Comcare and DVA Impairment Assessments
  • DVA Co-ordinated Veterans Care
  • Clinical management of complex cases

Dr Perkins is an ex -ADF MO and Senior Clinician, with 20 years Military experience, who understands the nuances and complexity of ADF Veteran Healthcare, and speaks your language. 

  • Senior Clinician – Contracted Health Professional  with HCA and BUPA at RAAF Amberley and Enoggera Army Hospital, 2013-2020.
  • Former DVA Contracted Medical Advisor, 2013-2014
  • 16 year experience in the Australian Defence Force, 1996 – 2017

Veteran Health Checks

We support health checks for veterans to help them stay well after they move into civilian life. 

We offer the:

  • One-off Veteran Health Check for a veteran to have once, any time after they leave the Australian Defence Force (ADF)
  • Annual Veteran Health Check for a veteran to have each year for up to 5 years after they leave the ADF

What You Need to Know 

Your appointment will be conducted over 2-3 sessions, depending on the copmlexity of your case.

ADF Post-Discharge Health Assessment

The Australian Defence Force (ADF) Post-discharge GP Health Assessment was developed by the Department of Veterans’ Affairs (DVA) as part of the Veteran mental health strategy: A ten year framework 2013–2023 initiative.

The health assessment was designed to assist former ADF personnel to access primary healthcare after their discharge.

It consists of the following components:

Physical Examination

Basic physical examination

We do a complet eoverview of your current medical conditions, their current status, the interrelationships between the, all, make plans for ongoing management, and do appropriate referrals and care plans.
